Gabriel García Márquez aka Gabo was a Colombian novelist, short-story writer, screenwriter and journalist. Gabo was a brilliant storyteller, a master of magic realism and his writing is a tribute to both the power of the imagination and the mysteries of the human heart. He is best-known for his novels, such as One Hundred Years of Solitude (1967) based on his grandparents’ house where he grew up and for this he awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982. His other works include The Autumn of the Patriarch; No One Writes to the Colonel; Love in the Time of Cholera and Memories of My Melancholy Whores; and a memoir, Living to Tell the Tale.
