Selina Hossain was born on June 14, 1947 at Rajshahi, in what is now Bangladesh. Her works are a moving account of the contemporary social and political crises and conflicts as well as the recurrent cycles of the life of the struggling masses. Her publication includes about 21 novels, 4 collections of short stories, 4 books of essays, and 4 books of children’s literature. Hangor Nodi Grenade, Pokamakarer Gharbasati, Kantatare Prajapati, Neel Mayurer Joubon, Tanaporen etc are his well known novels. Her stories have been translated into English, Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam, Russian and French. Selina Hossain is the winner of Bangla Academy award, Anando Puraskar, Alaol Purashkar and many others. Selina Hossain is currently serving in the position of Director of the Bangla Academy in Dhaka.
